We are always on the look out for things to do around Brussels, Belgium for kids. Well, we found something for Sunday, September 15th 2013. I often take my toddler to the BCT play group at Imagine in Wezembeek-Oppem.
It turns out that right around the corner, behind the Persian carpet store is a small shop that sells produce from it's own farm in addition to some other organic products. They even have kale, a rare find in Belgium.
They also offer yummy quiches, salads (quinoa, lentiles) and soups you can take to go or eat on the spot. Our Darling Sprout basically emptied a whole bowl of broccoli soup and a part of the Parmesan and asparagus quiche.
And, here is my favorite part -- a small kids corner! another rare occurrence in Belgium for kids. If you have been eating out with your little ones, you know how uncommon it is to find a changing table, much less a potty equipped toilet. The small play area with toys, books and crayons next to our table was a real treat.
The owner is super nice and helpful. She speaks excellent English, and it took her quite a while to start addressing me in french. I prefer using the local language so I spoke french and she responded in English :)
The shop is located only 500 meters from the farm Chaussée de Malines 71 in Wezembeek-Oppem - 1970.
Well I was happy to find out last Friday that they have a free Open day at their Farm. You can spend the day among sheep, vegetables and enjoy pony rides. A snacks will be offered throughout the day at all. I'm also looking forward to checking out their bee farm.
