Antwerp airport transfers

Here you will find Brussels Airport - Antwerp airport transfers details. The international airport of Brussels (Zaventem) is the most frequently used by visitors - it's only 40km (25 miles) from Antwerp. Antwerp can be reached from the airport either by train, bus or car.

Antwerp airport transfers :Rail
There is no direct train between Brussels Airport in Zaventem and Antwerp. Airport City Express trains to the city go to Brussels’ three main stations (Gare Centrale, Gare du Nord and Gare du Midi).

They are currently constructing the tracks but it will be year 2012 more years before you can use them. Travellers from the Antwerp will be able to travel non-stop to the airport without the inconvenience of first having to pass through Brussels.

But until 2012 you first have to travel to Brussels and then switch trains. This is a bit of a hustle when you are tired after the flight and have a lot of luggage. It is further complicated by the number of train stations in Brussels you can get off at any of them but the best choice is Brussels Nord - from there catch a train to Antwerp. The whole journey ( if preformed correctly ) takes approximately an hour.

berchem, train, station The airport train station is located below the terminal (basement level-1) - just follow the signs. You can buy the train ticket ( 7 € one-way )to Antwerp at the ticket booth. Up to 4 trains an hour connect the airport to Brussels North, Brussels Central and Brussels Midi stations

Information on the schedules of all Belgian and international train services can be found on the Belgian Railways website. Enter BRUXELLES NAT AIRPORT as departure station or destination.

TIP: Belgian trains travel at different speeds.

The L train stops everywhere (fields, middle of nowhere ...) it can take over an hour to get to Antwerp with this one.

The IR and the IC are the best choice ... of course to confuse the unsuspecting visitors an IR train can transform into an L train at any of the stops - travelers are sometimes warned of this by useful loud speaker messages mostly in dutch.

Nothing beats arriving at Antwerp Central Station

Antwerp airport transfers :Taxi
(NOT recommended - worst one of Antwerp airport transfers) Taxi rides to Antwerp city centre take about 45 minutes. This option is very costly - there is usually a standard rate (60 € - the last time I checked) to get you to Antwerp. Once in the city the taximeter can be switched on. Taxis are available in front of the arrivals hall. Licensed taxis can be recognized by the blue and yellow emblem.
