Antwerp Synagogue
This Antwerp Synagogue is influenced by moorish buildings and has been build by the Jewish congregation. It is known under several names: The Hoofdsynagogue, Main Synagogue. And also as the Dutch Synagogue and Hollandse Synagogue because it was founded by the descendants of Ashkenazi Jews from Holland.

Antwerp has about 15,000 Jews and one of the largest ultra-Orthodox and the city's 30 synagogues are all Orthodox. It was damaged by a German V-bomb in 1944. It was repaired in 1958 and it is a protected monument since September 17, 1976. The synagogue is only used for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kipour. Guided tours are possible by appointment.br>br>br>br>
